Will Cheryl Cole Be The Winning Judge On X Factor For A 3rd Year Running?
So the now ubiquitous X Factor is upon us for 2010 and having got past the frankly side splitting auditions stages, the 16 hopefulls are now ready to battle it out. As usual we are left with an assorted bunch of misfits with varying degrees of personality disorder. As ever there has been public 'outrage' concerning the judges choices, with Cheryl Cole in particular getting it in the neck.
Everyone's favourite Girls Aloud escapee was criticized for putting through two acts, Katie Waissel and Cher Llyod that were widely thought to be complete talentless duds, to be fair to the press the two contestants had absolutely zero vocal talent. What most of the public don't realize however is that the X Factor is not just about who has the best voice, its about who the judges can market and milk for cash.
So of the current crop, who is looking likely to win. The hard-to-pin down Katie made an exit last Sunday, due in part to her poor song choice, FYD also walked out the door, their zany look not being enough to save them from the judges wrath. This means the most successful judges, Cole and Cowell, have each lost an act.
Nevertheless the groups are a strong category with One Direction providing a unique selling point through the fact that they all look about 8 years old, or at least nowhere near ready to receive 18th birthday gifts, in fact they probably all believe in Santa and will be looking forward to getting their stocking fillers this year. Bell Amie are also knocking on the door after a long drought for girl bands on the show.
At this stage, it is hard to narrow down a victor but I will say expect something different this year. If I had to whittle down my three favourites I'd go for Cher Llyod, purely on the basis that she can rap, Aiden for his unique style and Matt for his pure vocal range. Who ever wins this year certainly won't be giving people Christmas gift ideas!
